11 Months Old

Gaius turned 11 months old yesterday. 11 months! That means that in one month I will officially have a one year old child. Ummm... what?

Mr Guy - Balloons

When did this happen? I swear that I was just bitching and complaining about being 9 months pregnant (I actually was "reminiscing" with a friend just the other day) -- but no -- it's been almost an entire year since Guy took his permanent spot in our family.

I think the warranty runs out a twelve months, right? Phew -- I still have a month to change my mind! Ok, just kidding, we're pretty sure that he's a keeper.

Nine Months - A Couple Weeks Late

Gaius turned nine months old... a couple of weeks ago. I wrote this up and forgot about it -- my bad. He has now been on the outside for longer than he was in my torso region.

Some of his favorite things to do include:

- Opening and closing doors.
- Standing at the safety gate at the top of the stairs and rattling it until someone gets the hint and takes him downstairs to play.
- Playing Dad's guitars.
- Eating cat food (or at least trying) and dumping out their water dish to play in the resulting puddle.
- Pulling all of his books off the shelf and chewing on them. He especially enjoys doing this if I have recently put them all away. Thanks kid.
- Having Dad "chase" him as he does his best to crawl to Mom for safety.

Other notables:
- he has three teeth on the bottom and one of his top front teeth is making it's way through.
- He recognizes and sometimes uses words (mama, dada, baba, more, jump and no).
- He seems to have moderately curly hair. Where that came from, I have no idea.
- He is quite possibly the sweatiest baby on planet earth. That kid perspires like no other, so he tends to roam around the house in just a onesie.
- He'll eat just about everything, but he loves cucumbers. If you take his slice away from him, he'll scream/cry.

Eight Months Old

I was doing really well taking weekly photos of the kid... for awhile at least. Now I've given up and I'm just going to focus on getting a monthly photo.

Gaius is extremely mobile and has more energy then any eight month old should, so it's getting more and more difficult as the months pass us by. This time around I had to have Heather stand above us to try and keep his attention for more than two seconds and even with her help it really only amounted in an additional four or five seconds a pop. I can't even count the number of times I had to roll him back over -- he was intent on crawling away from the scene!

Six Months Old

How did you age so quickly? Seriously -- I want to know.

Guy had his six month check-up with the doctor on Thursday and all is well, as always.

Height - 26.5 inches (54%)
Weight - 17.19 pounds (45%)
Head Circumference - 17.5 (71%)

He's still on the average/small side for the most part, but he obviously inhereited my big head. Poor kid.

Five Months Old

Gaius is five months old today. Crazy, right?

I took these photos of him on Saturday morning, which is good because it's dark and gloomy today. He spent pretty much the whole time holding on to his feet, so I was only able to snap a few, but oh well.

Five Months Old

April 16, 2011

- You babble constantly. It's starting to sound more like words and less like gibberish.
- You have hair!
- You're still a very happy baby. You smile at everyone.
- You try and put EVERYTHING in your mouth and get upset when we won't let you.
- You've found your feet and spend a great deal of time holding on to them. Your new thing is trying to get them in your mouth. Gross.
- You flip from stomach-to-back and back-to-stomach with ease.
- You're finally starting to show a moderate interest in the cats. Mostly you just like to feel their soft fur. They're still terrified of you though.
- You sleep on your stomach 95% of the time. We lay you down on your back and you almost immediately flip yourself over and fall back asleep.
- You can't stand to be held like a baby -- you want to be upright at all times.
- You do "the worm" to move yourself around... you haven't quite figured out how to lift your chest up.
- You're eating "solid" foods. So far you've tried: sweet potatoes, bananas, peaches, carrots and apples. You seem to like just about everything other than peaches. Weirdo.
- You're finally starting to be able to entertain yourself for longer periods of time (thank god).
- Your favorite place to hang out is still your changing pad. It's your instant happy place.
