Okay alright

"Otay. Ahwight"

When the monkey agrees to do something he tells us "Okay. Alright." (in his own way, of course) and it's kind of awesome.

We're really starting to be able to communicate back and forth now. The other day we were playing trains and I noticed he needed to go to the bathroom, so when I asked him to go take care of things he didn't want to stop playing, but then I explained to him that it was okay and that mommy would still be here playing trains when he was finished, he quickly agreed and told me "Otay. Ahwight" and hurried off.  He was delighted and reassured to discover that I was indeed still sitting on the floor ready and willing to play trains upon his return.

I know this is old hat for most three/four year olds, but this circle of communication is wholly new for us.  I love that I can ask him a question and actually get an answer back rather than a blank stare or a repeat of what I just said. I can ask him "What did you do today?" and he'll actually list some of the things he did, which normally involves "play" and whatever/whoever that was with.
