Gaius enjoying his first taste of the traditional Christmas morning cinnamon rolls. I think it's safe to say that he enjoyed them.

(as you can tell, I'm finally catching up with posting photos from our December trip to California)

Standing

He stands on his own like a champ, but is much too cautious to actually walk.

Firsts - Sippy Cup

August 20, 2011

August 22, 2011

Gaius recently (as in over the weekend) learned how to use a sippy cup on his own. Now that he's learned how to get water out of it, his favorite thing to do is spit the water out and all over himself.

I'd be annoyed with the mess he makes if it wasn't so god damn adorable.

Firsts - Happy Meal Toy

Grandpa, Grandma and Gaius took a drive out to Park City last week and stopped by McDonald's on the way home.

Guy's first happy meal toy? C3-PO. How very appropriate, right?

(Don't worry, Grandma ate the actual meal and Gaius got to gnaw on the toy)

First Tooth

Gaius cut his first tooth last week - July 14th to be exact.

There's is no way that Guy is going to let me get a photo, so you'll just have to take my word for it.

It's nubby little fella on his lower gum and I must be a parent, because I find it pretty damn exciting.

So Guy's first Fourth of July was a moderate success. I say moderate because we didn't actually have any fireworks -- just sparklers. We're cheap. Whatever, he seemed to enjoy are pathetic attempt at patriotism anyway.

He's pretty damn proud of himself.

Firsts - Eating in the Highchair

He wasn't exactly interested in his new highchair or eating food, but at least it was entertaining (and messy).

Firsts - Solid Food

March 31, 2011

Sweet Potatoes were his first "real" food (I'm not going to count the rice cereal). He even managed to get about a third of the food in his mouth and down into his belly.

It's a start. Up next? Bananas.

Firsts - Solid Food

Our little monkey got his first taste of "solid" food over the weekend.

Let's just say that he is not a fan of rice cereal and the sweet potatoes only fared slightly better.

Firsts - Sleeping Through the Night

Gaius officially slept through the night last night [Cue heavenly music]

We put him in his crib at 8:30pm and he didn't wake up to be changed or fed until 7am!

That's 10+ hours of straight sleep!

Holy crap it was awesome.

The not so awesome part was that he had leaked out of his diaper and was super pissed off (hungry) and fussy when he finally woke up. Oh well. Michael changed his diaper & outfit and I fed him, then it was back to sleep for another two hours.

I know I shouldn't get use to it, but it was pretty glorious.

Laughing

Gaius is pretty much the happiest baby on the planet 90% of the time. We have to keep reminding ourselves how incredibly lucky we are.

March 12, 2011

Last night was the first time either of us had really heard an honest to goodness laugh from Guy. Apparently, whatever Michael was doing was hilarious because I had more than enough time to grab the camera and get some of it on video.

Water Is Awesome

March 11, 2011

Apparently water is the best thing this kid has ever come in contact with. He lives a very sheltered life.

Firsts - Rolling Over

Guy learned an awesome new trick last Friday: rolling over.

He's all about rolling over from his back to his stomach... he hasn't quite figured out what to do once he gets there though. Oh wait -- yes he does -- he cries until we flip him back over.

It's pretty rad, but lets not pretend he's curing cancer already or anything...

...but that doesn't mean I'm not excited as it obviously didn't stop me from taking a ridiculous amount of photos. Oh and these are actually of the second time he rolled over for us -- the first time was a couple of hours earlier and completely unexpected.

It was nice to be able to bust out his baby book and record this "milestone", but that only lasted a moment because that damn book reminded me of all the other things that I forgot to jot down. Oh well!

(P.S. - Thanks to Rob & Ingrid for letting Guy borrow the baby gym!)

Guy learned a new trick this last week: consciously grabbing/grasping at things. He still sucks at it, but it's a start.

As you can see, he's pretty proud of himself.
